How much …?

You can use today’s phrases when you buy something at shops.

[Today’s phrase]

Hom much〇〇? :

〇〇はいくらですか?

〇〇wa ikura desuka?

*Please put the word you want to ask in 〇〇.

[At a shop]

How much is this? :

これはいくらですか? 

korewa ikura desuka?

It’s ¥10, 000.

10,000円です。

ichiman-en desu.

It’s a little expensive. :

少し高いです。/ 少し高いですね。

sukoshi takai desu. / sukoshi takai desu ne.

*If you add “ne” at the end of the phrase when you express your feeling, it sounds more softly.

How much is that? :

それはいくらですか?

sorewa ikura desu ka?

it’s ¥500. :

500円です。

gohyaku-en desu.

Wow, it’s cheap! :

わぁ、安い!

waa, yasui!

Oh really? It’s affordable! :

え、本当に? お手頃ですね!

e, hontouni? otegoro desu ne!

Yeah, It’s on sale. :

えぇ、セール中です。

ee, seerucyuu desu.

I’ll take it. :

それにします。/ それをください。

soreni shimasu. / sorewo kudasai.

this: これ kore, that: あれ are, it:それ sore

expensive: 高い(たかい) takai, cheap: 安い(やすい) yasui

affordable: お手頃な(おてごろな) otegorona

a little: 少し(すこし) sukoshi

really: 本当に(ほんとうに) hontouni

on sale : セール中 seerucyuu
